Artist Statement: This piece was inspired by the trip I took to Hawaii with my family. We were at this really cool restaurant where we could feed the koi fish and it was just a very peaceful experience. I used only a 4b pencil which is my favorite thing I use to do art. In the future I plan to spend a lot of my time in nature and find my inner peace, 所以这幅画代表了这一点.

Artist Statement: Kid Cudi is a well-known musical artist who drastically changed how people view hip hop. A small artist largely inspired this piece I found on Pinterest whose name is unknown. My goal was to challenge my ability to create realism using tone and value. I drew lighter and darker parts of the piece to produce emotion and accurate facial features. The most challenging part of creating the work was detailing the transparent effect of the smoke on the face. I feel the piece ended up being a success in achieving my goal.
